IBC Amsterdam RAI, Saturday 10th of September 2011. Boxer has selected a new DVB-T2 set-top box design from 27m Technologies for terrestrial broadcasting in Sweden and Denmark. The new design was produced by 27M in a fast-track development programme, enabling launch of the STB before the new setup of Danmarks Radio and TV2 services in Denmark on January 10, 2012. “We needed a new zapper rapidly for our Danish customers, while providing a product that would also offer a reliable service across Scandinavia over the coming years. We are very pleased that 27m met the challenge and produced the new design well ahead of time. The selection of the 27m design gives us a cost-effective solution with high quality. Key features to us are easy installation and ease of use, which we find in this design, ”says Per Alksten, Product Manager of Boxer. “Having won this project in strong competition, we are very pleased to have met Boxer’s requirements for a high quality, low cost STB during a short project time. It is also an important opportunity to show the high quality of our design and the user-friendliness our OmniTV software,” says Anders Wisell, senior vice president for sales and marketing at 27M. While the first version will be supporting the Boxer markets in Denmark and Sweden, 27m has developed the HDT720 zapper to meet the requirements for customers all over Europe.The H.264 HD compatible STB is designed to be cost-effective to manufacture and flexible to configure, featuring HDMI, SCART and S/PDIF-interfaces. The platform has options for IP and USB PVR. It supports Viaccess ACS3.1 with advanced security features and includes 27m’s software stack OmniTV, which can be customised to suit user requirements. It is pre-validated towards required driver and integration tests to reduce the time to market.
